What is Geotagging?

Geotagging is the process of adding geographical identification metadata to various media such as a photographs, videos, websites, or even SMS messages. The data typically consists of longitude and latitude coordinates, and time stamp.

Why Geotagging?

The field call service industry is changing in many regards, and this change is not driven by the companies that perform services out in the field. This change is driven by the client's needs in performing services for them. As the industry changes, our goal is to stay relevant and adapt to the changes requested of the client.

Several months ago, per client requests, NCCI has implemented Geotagging on each assignment or job given to the Field Service Representative. This has moved out of its beta testing phase and will be moving to mandatory usage.

With this shift comes better metrics and data and by providing this to our client, it will result in more accounts, more assignments, and also becoming the "UBER" of the field call service industry. The more accounts we receive, the more profitable a Field Rep can become.

The Challenges & Goals

This is new. This is something that will take work for us to accomplish together. It is something that is simple to perform and simple to work into a routine.

In order to accomplish this, here is a list of challenges:

  • Data is required on a smart phone or tablet upon arrival of address

  • The process involves checking-in upon arrival at location

  • Cellular Service Providers may not have data service in Rural areas

  • Geotagging may not put you in the exact location on the map

Geotagging does not track your movement or your drives. It ONLY catches the coordinates at the time you press "CHECK IN" while at the assignment location. It is non-intrusive.

The Goals

With the clients changing the industry, we have set goals to accomplish better service for them. For each Individual Field Rep our goal for Geotagging is:

70%

This means all Field Reps in each state must succeed in Geotagging. This will assist the client in seeing that we are present and tagged at a location.
